This is a course (6 x 2 hours) in which you will work on one of our table looms. In this class you will learn to work on this loom, while creating your own woven bag!
We have three looms available, one with 4 shafts and one with 8 shafts. All materials are included in this course. The materials we use are natural. The warp is set up with organic cotton and linen and you can use (local) wool while weaving as well. The bag that you are creating is a special design by teacher Rosa Smits. You will start with an instruction about the loom, choose of materials and than you can start weaving!

About Rosa
Rosa Smits is a textile artist/designer who graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. She also has a background in fashion and she gets excited when different fields like textile, performance, philosophy and art overlap. She loves to travel and to learn about textile traditions and stories from different cultures. Weaving is her main medium to explore, and often she uses it during travels to connect to a place, the materials they have to offer and the people. Rosa is now a freelance artist/designer and she gives weaving and natural dyeing lessons on a regular basis at de Steek.
*All materials are included in this workshop
**This lesson is in both English and Dutch (depending on the students)
***We have three table looms available, so we only have two spot for this course! But you will share the work room with two hand-loom students as well.
