See for yourself what makes this dye plant so magical! We will create a natural fermentation indigo dye vat and learn how to dip dye to create different shades or even colour. Each student will also have the opportunity to explore traditional Japanese shibori techniques to create various patterns and designs on their fabric. All dye stuffs and tools will be provided, just bring along your fibre for dyeing! Indigo is perfect for wool, silk, cotton, linen, or other natural fabrics. All instruction is in English.
Alice Tsibulsky is a textile artist with a background in cultural and environmental anthropology. She completed a Fibre Arts certificate course in Canada and has worked at a sewing studio in Toronto for several years. She likes making all different things, but lately her focus has been on (hand) quilting and natural dyeing as means of slowing down and enjoying the process of her craft. Alice is hosting workshops and courses with these two techniques at De Steek. www.alkaline-studio.com
