Design and make your own trousers in this 8-week Course! This means you will not only assemble the piece, but you will also create your own pattern in your own design. We will start with a basic pattern in your own size and we will make alterations to the pattern to turn it into the pants of your wishes. For example, add pleats, pockets, closure and change the shape of the leg (flared, straight, narrow). Learn the basics of pattern alterations and sewing techniques that fit your pants. Professional fashion designer Aida Kasaei will be your teacher.
> creation of your pattern and cutting the fabric
> overlocking, pockets and fly
> assembling your trousers and waistband
In the first lesson you will get a basic pattern in your own size, which you can use to create your own pattern. You can also take this basic pattern home, so in the future it is also possible to create different styles of pants with this basic pattern. You need to bring pictures and/or drawing of the design/style trousers that you want to make to show Aida your wished. Materials (fabrics, interfacing, buttons, zippers) are not included in the course, so you can also choose your own style.
Born and raised in Iran, Tehran, Aida Kasaei (1989) did her study in Amsterdam Fashion Institute. Her designs are characterised by traditional craft, mostly using embroidery techniques and creating simple shapes. Aida has a good eye for details. Designing clothes is a way for her to express her emotions and thoughts. What appeals to her especially when designing is the story behind every item of clothing. There are many sources of inspiration around us, but what she sees as a challenge is to translate these inspirations into ideas that form the basis for a new design. Her commitment to sustainability is evident throughout all her work. Her desire is to change the conditions of the current fashion system into a more eco-friendly way, by using craftsmanship. Aida teaches sewing lessons in the Sewing Cafe and different fashion design and sewing courses at De Steek.
