This course is a great introduction to crochet, or specifically hand crochet, where you will learn to crochet with your hands rather than with a crochet hook. In this course students will learn the basics of crochet while making a cozy throw blanket. At the end of this course you have mastered some basic crochet stitches, such as the chain and single crochet stitch, and you will have a thick and cozy blanket to take home with you – perfect for those long winter nights ahead.
Students will be asked to provide their own yarn for the project (tips provided after booking where to purchase the yarn in different price ranges) so the color of each blanket can be chosen by the student themselves and personalized to their own taste/color palette of their home.
Topics to cover:
> Slip stitch
> Chain stitch
> Single crochet stitch
> Finishing off a crochet project

About Hannah
Hannah is an American fiber artist based in Amsterdam. She has an undergraduate degree in fine arts from the US, and although her career led her to the corporate world, she spends all of her time outside of work either creating art or thinking about creating art. Her favorite techniques include macrame, weaving, pottery and crochet but she also loves jewelry making and sewing. She recently opened her own business, Tethered Twine, and started selling her artwork on her webshop. Hannah teaches this crochet blanket workshop and also different workshops in macrame & other textiles techniques at De Steek.
*Aim is to finish the whole blanket during the workshop. If by any chance the process is going a bit slower, Hannah will make sure that she explains you all the steps for finishing.
