Create your own handmade quilt! In this beginner quilt class, the stitches are what create the design of the quilt. Students come up with their own designs using stencils or geometric shapes, transfer them onto the fabric, and stitch by hand to complete their own throw size quilt or pillow cover. We will cover basting, assembly, and binding to create a unique finished product. The course is taught by Canadian textile designer Alice Tsibulsky.
Alice Tsibulsky is a textile artist with a background in cultural and environmental anthropology. She completed a Fibre Arts certificate course in Canada and has worked at a sewing studio in Toronto for several years. She likes making all different things, but lately her focus has been on hand quilting and natural dyeing as means of slowing down and enjoying the process of her craft.
> Intro to Whole Cloth – examples & samples
> Practice stitches on samples

With this workshop you can choose to have the materials in- or excluded. If you choose the materials excluded you will get a little list with everything you need. You just have to purchase the materials. All tools and machines are included anyways. If you choose to have everything included you can choose between different organic fabrics. The batting we use is an soya/cotton-mix, so all materials are animal-free as well (so no wool is used).
