9 June 2019
10:00 - 17:00
Van Der Hoopstraat 70HS, Amsterdam
Discover the magic of dyeing with plants and insects in this intro course for beginners. Students will learn about the process from start to finish and will have the knowledge to continue natural dye experiments at home. Each student will go home with a mini sample book and their naturally dyed fabric.
– Dyeing your cloth evenly
– Shibori, traditional tye-dye technique
Make samples with four different dye plants (Madder, Logwood, Fustic, and Cutch) as well as some dyestuffs you can find in your own kitchen, like onion skins and avocado stones.”
In the end you will go home with the experiments you made, but also your ‘end product’: a big piece of dyed fabric. And maybe you have some white clothes (made from natural materials) in your closet that could use a brush of paint?
